Balaji announces ‘Global Indian TV Honours’; 9X to be television partner

Balaji Telefilms is all set to enter the non-fiction genre with reality shows and a mega event. ‘The Global Indian TV Honours’ is the first endeavour towards this progression. The media company has roped in 9X is television partner for the event.

The Awards will have six categories with 30 sub-categories. The six categories are Popular, Technical, Programming, Achievement (for which there will be no nominations), Special Honours and Voters’ Choice. Each category would be judged by the panel of three judges. The Awards have already received a whopping response with 370 nominations.

The panel of judges consists of renowned names from the television and media industry like Farida Jalal, Aroona Irani, Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Anurag Basu, B P Singh, Anil Thakraney, Ashwini Yardi, Sanjeev Sharma, Deepak Malvankar, Aly Morani and Neena Gupta.

Commenting on the Awards, Balaji Telefilms’ Ekta Kapoor said, “We changed the television viewing scenario in India and across the globe with our daily soaps. Balaji has also created a niche in film production and distribution with movies like ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’. And now the progression for us is to move to non-fiction with reality shows and mega events. ‘The Global Indian TV Honours’ is our pioneering venture in the non-fiction arena. Reality shows will follow.”

Indrani Mukherjea, Founder and CEO of 9X, the television partner for the event, said, “We are delighted to be associated with Balaji Telefilms for ‘The Global Indian TV Honours’.
