Ajay Mittal to take charge as Secretary, I&B Ministry

According to media reports, Ajay Mittal will succeed Sunil Arora as the new Information and Broadcasting Secretary.

Arora, an IAS officer from the1980 batch, retires on 30 April. He joined the I&B ministry on 31 August 2015. He was involved in the implementation of digital addressable system (DAS) in Phase III areas.

Mittal was empanelled as Secretary in December last year when he was Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, Social Justice & Empowerment department, Shimla. A law graduate, Mittal will have to immediately see that DAS Phase III, which is currently locked in court cases, gets implemented. The deadline for DAS Phase IV is 31 December 2016.
