9X set to usher in 2008 with four new shows

Hindi GEC 9X is launching four new shows. Extending its prime time slot from January 7 onwards, daily fiction drama ‘Dahhej’ will air from Monday-Thursday in the 8.30 pm time slot. Come January 14, and the channel will premiere three shows for its afternoon time band – daily dramas ‘Veerawali’ and ‘Neelanjana’, and a daily cookery show ‘Rasm-e-Rasoi’.

Commenting on the new shows, Indrani Mukerjea, Founder and CEO, INX Media Pvt. Ltd, said, “I am glad to announce that at 9X, we are enhancing our viewer offerings with an exciting line-up of shows. Starting the first week of January, 9X will extend its prime time with a new daily drama, and by the second week of the month, we will launch our new afternoon band to reach out to women audiences with two daily dramas and a daily cookery show.” She further said that 9X would also air a multi-starrer Bollywood event ‘Ten on 9X’ on January 6 at 8 pm.

Family drama ‘Dahhej’ has been set against the backdrop of a vibrant Gujarati family, and is the story of two sisters whose destinies are intertwined with each other. Starting January 14, the channel’s afternoon time band will be spruced with cookery show ‘Rasm-e-Rasoi’ in the 12.30 pm time slot. This will be followed by two dramas – ‘Neelanjana’ at 1 pm and ‘Veeranwali’ at 1.30 pm.

Produced by Edit II Productions, ‘Neelanjana’ is based on the true story of a simple girl. It marks the debut of Harsha Khandeparkar, while the other starcast includes Atul Srivastava, Mrinal Kulkarni and Akhsay Anand. Produced by Creative Eye, ‘Veeranwali’ is the story of the unconditional love between a sister and her two brothers who, in spite of various upheavals, stand by one another.

Speaking on the recent TRPs and the channel’s performance, Mukerjea said, “We have launched recently and have two hours of programming, as compared to other GECs which exist for around four-six years and have 24 hours of programming. Hence, comparing with such channels and earning a TRP of 40 from just two hours of programming is good.”

‘Ten on 9X’, which will feature the three Khans of Bollywood – Shah Rukh, Salman and Saif - along with a galaxy of Bollywood stars who walked the red carpet to lend their support to the cause of AIDS awareness, will air on January 6 at 8 pm.
