“We are clear number One in Kerala”: Sun Network

Surya TV, as per Sun Network, is the clear leader in Kerala and ahead of competition. Responding to exchange4media story Channel-share battle heats up in Kerala, Sun Network in a communication to exchange4media stated, “Surya TV though a second entrant in the Malayalam satellite scene, sprinted its way to the top in a span of just one year. High quality entertainment and more significantly a perfect programming blend to suit the audience tastes are the key factors that galloped the channel to the top. Surya TV has not looked back since then and has been consolidating its position further and sustaining its Number One slot quite comfortably.”

Surya, as per Sun Network, is performing exceedingly well on ratings fronts as well. “Surya TV’s success story may have been adopted as a case study or a path to follow by its competitors in the business but those efforts can only keep them following the leader,” explains the network.

Sun network further states, “The 8.00 –10.00 pm prime time band is considered the `core primetime band’ by the advertisers and is the heart of the day’s programming time bands in the television industry. This `core primetime band’ gives Surya TV a phenomenal 6.93 average TVR across these time bands with the nearest second at 6.80 TVR. The category is CS 4+ years, which, provides an indicator of overall viewership of any satellite channel, and the period is six weeks starting from 28/12/03 to 07/2/04. In the overall channel share for all time bands of the day Surya TV has a share of 27.37% against its nearest second, which is at 26.85% in the same TG and category.”

Referring to the channel share, the network states, “The share percentage for all time bands of the day is also an indicator of the channel standing and as indicated here Surya TV is the clear no One in Kerala.”
