OMD bags media duties of Johnson & Johnson worth Rs 100 cr

Following the long-drawn global review of Johnson & Johnson, OMD, which has been recently launched in India, has bagged the media duties for the entire J&J business in India. The account is estimated to be worth almost Rs 100 crore. The development was confirmed by sources close to the development on condition of anonymity.

In India, Mediacom and Lodestar Universal are the incumbents. The pitch in India included Lodestar Universal, Carat and OMD. Besides India, OMD will also handle the business in China, Australia and South Korea.

The $ 300-million media business of J&J for the Asia-Pacific region has been split between OMD and Universal McCann. Universal McCann will handle the business in South-east Asia.

The global media review was anticipated since J&J began the $16.6 billion acquisition of Pfizer's over-the counter drug and personal care business in October 2006. This is the third win for OMD since its entry into India. The first was Ambuja Cement, followed by Parle Agro. The agency’s billing is now almost Rs 150 crore.
