The Sun Group has launched a new Malayalam channel exclusively for children – Kochu TV. The channel will have a mix of entertainment and informative programmes such as animations, adaptations of popular Hollywood movies, and educational programmes. This is the third Malayalam channel and the fourth kids’ channel from the Group.
Sun Network’s CEO Ajay Vidyasagar has put in his papers. Sanjay Reddy, Senior VP at Sun TV Network, will replace Vidyasagar and take over as COO for Sun TV. Rumours are rife that Sun18 South CEO Tony D’Silva is set to be the CEO of the entire Network, including aviation biz.
In a bid to revamp its Sunday morning offering, Sun Network, in association with Godrej and Big Synergy, is all set to launch a game show, which will be South’s version of ‘Godrej Khelo Jeeto Jiyo’. The show will be aired in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu from October 2010 on Sun Network’s channels Sun TV, Udaya TV and Gemini TV, respectively.
Sun TV Network has reported strong financial performance for the third quarter ended December 31, 2009. The Network has posted a net profit of Rs 1.52 billion as against a net of Rs 1.12 billion on the corresponding quarter of FY09, a 35.37 per cent growth on the back of good revenue growth.
