Now, cricket lovers can network through CrickeM

Keeping in mind the craze for cricket despite India’s poor show of late, CrickeM, a social video network, was recently launched in Chennai. The community network aims to motivate people to watch, share opinions, special moments and videos on, what else but, cricket. Cricket lovers can register on this network for free.

Sashi Chimala, co-founder of CrickeM, said, “CrickeM gives lovers of the game a new channel to express and find public opinion on cricket. It complements the current available channels like newspapers and television. It is a participative channel where anyone with a PC or a mobile phone can now express and share their opinions with the rest of the world. Have an advice for India’s captain. Say it on CrickeM TV or through www.crickem.com.”

“We have already received over 3,000 requests for registration invites since our launch and we look forward to at least one million videos being uploaded before the first ball is bowled at the World Cup 2007. Reliance is our official broadband sponsor for the launch,” Chimala further said.

On registration, an invite is sent from the site and the network grows by a personal invitation from existing members, a la Gmail.

The site has three sections – Clubs, Videos, and Blogs – where people can share important experiences in cricket as and where they happen. Breaking news can be uploaded immediately from the Net or from a mobile phone, cricket fans can share footage, gully cricket, quirky videos, etc. The site will be accessible through mobile phones soon.
