Ambience Publicis to start Bangalore operations with Manjunath Hegde as Branch Head
Ambience Publicis is all set to enter the Bangalore market. The agencyâs new branch will begin operations in the first week of July, and marks its entry into the south. Manjunath Hegde, co-founder of Chlorophyll, has been roped in as Branch Head.
Nakul Chopra, CEO and Managing Director, Ambience Publicis, said, âThere are two reasons why we chose Bangalore. First, as of now the Publicis group doesnât have any representation in South India. With this move we are looking to bridge that gap. We have also got the opportunity to work for two very powerful clients out of the newly formed Bangalore branch. They are UB (earlier known as Shaw Wallace) and Atmosphere (a furnishing brand). Both the accounts are sizeable enough to warrant the agencyâs growth in the southern region.â
He added, âWe were looking for someone who not only has man-management skills but is also a veteran in building business. Hegde fits the bill perfectly.â
Hegde began his career with Raka Advertising in 1985, serving the agency for three years before moving to Leo Burnett, where he stayed for seven years. He then had a stint with Bates for five years. After quitting Bates, Hegde took active part in co-founding Chlorophyll, an advertising agency. During his career, Hegde has worked on some of the superbrands such as Complan, P&G, HLL, Louis Phillip and ABN Amro.
An enthused Hegde said, âMy specialisation has always been understanding consumer behaviour. However, at Chlorophyll, activities around brand identity are not so profound and, therefore, my profile in the agency was getting too mundane and drab, and I was looking for a way to get back to hardcore advertising. Ambience Publicis is giving me the opportunity to explore these possibilities again. My initial mandate will be to consolidate the current businesses and, secondly, to streamline the staff in the Bangalore branch and align them on the lines of the Mumbai branch.â
Hegde explained that the UB brands â Antiquity, Royal Mist and White Magic â would now be handled out of the Bangalore office; and that a transition of the accounts to Bangalore was in progress. He is currently engaged in putting together a team for Bangalore and finalising the office premises.
