e4m Conclave 2009 starts off with a bang in Mumbai

The fourth exchange4media Conclave 2009 has commenced at Mumbai’s ITC Grand Central Sheraton to a packed house on June 3, 2009. The day-long Conclave is presented by Star News and powered by Hindustan Times. This is the first time that the exchange4media Conclave is been made a paid conclave, unlike in the last three years.

The Conclave began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Anurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media; Naval Ahuja, Co-founder and Director, exchange4media; Amit Agnihotri, Co-founder and Director, exchange4media; Vikram Sakhuja, CEO, GroupM South Asia; and Mark Patterson, CEO, GroupM APAC.

Delivering the keynote address Patterson stressed that flexibility and ingenuity were very crucial for India’s growth. He further said that when India committed to something, it committed with determination. The address was followed by a Q&A round, which had Ishan Raina, CEO, OOH Media; Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar Universal; and Anurag Batra raise quite a few pertinent questions.

Quizzing Patterson on India’s growth story was LV Krishnan, CEO, TAM India, who wrapped up with a rapid fire round crafting a lighter mood, especially with questions like ‘The competitor you admire the most’, which turned out to be OMD; ‘Favourite GroupM division’ – Maxus; ‘Favourite creative arm’ – O&M. Patterson further said that he also found the growing economy a challenge rather than a shrinking or stagnating economy. LV Krishnan gave Patterson a 10 on 10 for his comments.

Among the packed audience could be seen well-known names like AP Parigi, MD and CEO, ENIL; Prasanth Kumar, Managing Partner CTG, GroupM; Sunder Hemrajani, MD, Times OOH; and Bharat Kapadia, Director, Lokmat, to name a few. This was apart from the high profile speaker line-up. The audience also comprised a huge chunk of young turks from across the media and advertising fraternity.
