Zee’s spiritual channel, Jagran, completes one year, aims wider viewer base

Zee’s spiritual channel, Jagran, has completed its first year and claims to have garnered a successful viewership with its fresh outlook to programming. Jagran had a mix of Hindi and English programmes with new-age gurus like Vikas Malkhani, Shivender Nagar and Dr. Ratanjit Singh Sondhi on the channel.

Said Anil Anand, Business Head, Jagran, "We have made a difference. Not only to our society but also to the viewers who were looking for something different from the mundane content they get from channels in the same genre. Jagran has actually provided awakening to it’s viewers by presenting unique content in slick packaging out-frame on digital platform. It was Jagran's endeavor to fulfill its responsibility towards the society at large."

The channel is looking to get a larger viewer base by expanding its target audience to 25+ age group from the conventional 55+ age group. The top names on the channel are Sri Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Osho, Brahma Kumaris, Sri Sri Ravishankar, Sudhansu Ji, Morari Bapu and Guru Maa among others.

Jagran did quite a few innovations to position itself distinctly from other channels in the same genre. Live telecasts have been the major focus of the channel, like the Yog Diwas Smaroh, the Punjabi Bagh Janamasthami and the concert for healing through Music. The channel plans to telecast the longest Jagran from the famous Kangra temple for 15 hours non-stop. This will be the longest live telecast in the history of Indian television, the channel claims.
