The Kolkata FM radio space has been seeing the same set of trends for more than a year now, and the story is no different for the 37-week trend as per RAM data. Radio Mirchi continues to lead in the Kolkata market, followed by Big FM, Friends FM and Aamar FM, who are comfortably placed at number two, three and four slots, respectively, in the ratings.
While Radio Mirchi remained the leader in Kolkata, closest rival Big FM managed to narrow the gap and came close to occupying the top slot as was seen on weeks 1, 2 and 3. Radio Mirchi ended week 37 with a 19.2 per cent share of the market, while Big FM ended with 17.7 per cent market share, as compared to 16.2 per cent the station had a week before.
Friends FM was comfortably placed at No. 3 with a market share of 14 per cent. The 37-week trend also shows a surge in ratings of Aamar FM, which took it all the way to the third spot, thereby intensifying the battle for the third slot. Aamar FM reached its highest peak on week 23 with a market share of 13 per cent. The station, however, ended week 37 with a market share of 11.1 per cent, which placed it in the fourth position, which was still way ahead of the remaining cluster of FM stations in Kolkata.
There was a cluster of FM stations battling for the fifth spot, which included Red FM, Fever FM, Radio One and Meow FM. However, the ratings of these FM stations did not see any major surge. Red FM ended week 37 with 7.2 per cent of the market share. The station reached its highest peak on week 19 with a 9.8 per cent market share.
The other cluster of FM stations in the Kolkata market comprised Power FM, AIR FM1 Rainbow, AIR FM2 Gold, Akashavani and Vividh Bharati.
