Radio Mirchi Chennai launches devotional programme ‘Mirchi Devaragam’

Keeping in tune with the religious and spiritual flavour of Chennai, Radio Mirch Chennai has beefed up its morning programme line-up with new devotional show called ‘Mirchi Devaragam’. The channel has branded this programme as a New Year gift to its audience.

The show aired every day from 5.00 am to 7.00 am. Chennai listeners will wake up to the notes of Suprabhatam (coinciding with the time of sunrise) on Radio Mirchi. ‘Suprabhatam’, sung by the Nightingale of Carnatic music, MS Subbulakshmi, and ‘Kanda Shasti Kavacham’ by the Sulamangalam sisters, have been incorporated into the content to enliven the spiritual flavour.

‘Mirchi Devaragam’ will also include elements like ‘Bakthi Neram’ by Revathi Shankaran, where she will tell divine stories, thoughts, facts on famous temples, and religious practices, thereby ensuring an auspicious start to the day for the listeners.

The show will also include astrological updates by Kaliyoor Narayanan, who will give daily updates on the day’s forecasts according to one’s star sign in the ‘Rasi Palan’ segment. In addition, the show will also give listeners the Rahu Kalam time each day and will conclude with RJ Deva reading a prayer request from listeners.

Information on temple trips and tours to religious destinations as well as calendar of religious events will be given out regularly on the show, and one of the show highlights would be that the listeners would get the chance to win free trips to Tirupati on participating in show-based activities.

Commenting on the launch of ‘Mirchi Devragam’, Sandeep Sud, VP & Cluster Station Head, Radio Mirchi, said, “Chennai being a very religious and spiritual market, the launch of ‘Devaragam’ has a very special significance for us. We were extremely particular that we did not want to sound like any another devotional show, the show had to be unique in its offering and hence a lot of thought and time has led to the genesis of ‘Mirchi Devaragam’. Our goal is to ensure that listening to ‘Mirchi Devaragam’ should make our listeners feel that they have begun their day on an auspicious note.”
