FICCI Frames turns 10; kicks off on February 17 with KPMG as its partner

The three-day FICCI Frames 2009 gets underway in Mumbai from February 17. Post the Satyam fiasco, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been dropped as the knowledge partner for FICCI Frames this year after eight years of partnership. Instead, FICCI Frames is partnering with international auditing firm KPMG this year.

Referred as the ‘biggest global convention in Asia on the business of entertainment’, this year FICCI Frames is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has scheduled over 30 sessions, including Plenary and Parallels. The sessions would cover the entire gamut of media and entertainment like films, television, radio, print, digital media, animation, gaming and visual effects over three days.

The convention intends to become a common platform for sharing and deliberating on the various issues relating to media and entertainment. FICCI Frames 2009 is expected to host over 2,000 Indian and 800 foreign delegates from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Israel, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE, the UK and the US.

The US has been chosen as the partner country for FICCI Frames 2009. With the continuous crossover mingling of cultures, there is now a steady demand for Bollywood films in the US. The content business in India is likely to generate over $50 million in the next two years and this growth is expected to come largely from the US market.

The guest of honour this year would be Ben Silverman, Co-chair, NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television Studios. The welcome address would be delivered by Harshpati Singhania, President, FICCI, and MD, JK Paper Ltd. The keynote address would be delivered by Yash Chopra, Chairman, FICCI Entertainment Committee, and Yashraj Films Pvt Ltd; Kunal Dasgupta, Co-Chairman, FICCI Entertainment Committee, and CEO, Sony Entertainment Television; and Sushma Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Following which, the FICCI- KPMG Report on the Indian Entertainment Industry and Amarchand and Mangaldas Lawbook would be released.
