ASCI’s fast track complaints redressal process from Sept 1

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) is introducing a new procedure to fast track redressal of complaints lodged by industry members. Effective September 1, 2011, the fast track procedure will seek to provide a speedy resolution to intra industry complaints.

IBF takes NBA route, creates BCCC

Removing all ambiguity, IBF has come up with Self Regulatory Guidelines and Complaints Redressal Mechanism for non-news TV channels. It has also formed the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council to address consumer complaints.

ASCI witnesses rise in complaints against education ads

The recent introduction of ASCI’s guidelines for the education sector seems to have made an impact among the masses as the number of complaints against education institutions’ ads have gone up. Of the total 12 complaints upheld by ASCI in July and August, six were against ads of educational institutes and the rest were from FMCG, travel, realty and appliances companies.

ASCI brings 7 ads under the scanner; 5 ads withdrawn

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has released its Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) decision report for the months of May and June 2010. A total of seven ads had been brought under its scanner, of which five ads have been withdrawn, while two have been modified.
