Prasar Bharati asked to file reply suit by Buddha Films

On February 17, Buddha Films entered into an agreement with Prasar Bharati, which gave exclusive rights to Buddha Films for marketing of airtime on DD 1 and DD sports during cricket matches. The total minimum assured revenue bid for, by Buddha Films for air time marketing in India was Rs 450 crore.

This was based on the condition that both the channels on which the matches are to be telecast are free-to-air channels. The company alleged that in gross violation of the terms and conditions, Prasar Bharati converted the channel DD-Sports into an encrypted pay channel. This resulted in a complete loss of viewership thus affecting the number of advertisement during the telecast of cricket matches. This has caused irreparable loss to the Buddha Films.
