Star to extend KBC to weekends

To counter the rising popularity of Jeeto Chappar Phad Ke, Star plans to extend its game show KBC to weekends. Rattled by the reasonably good initial performance by SET’s Govinda show, Star slotted its old booster recipe for KBC — celebrities and filmstars — against Jeeto Chappar Phad Ke last Saturday. The move to put Sachin Tendulkar and Madhuri Dixit on the hot seat for the Gujarat cause proved to be a success.

The just-released TAM Media-9 City average - Cable and Satellite homes results shows that the KBC, moved up to No 1 spot in the top programmes of the week with an all-India TVR of 11.8, compared to Jeeto Chappar Phad Ke which was at No 34 with a TVR of just 3.0.

JeetoChappar Phad Ke did not have a KBC-style opening, but it has not done too badly either. Despite the Gujarat earthquake tragedy and the shift of eyeballs to news channels, it opened with an average all-India TVR of 9.4 on January 26, fell to 5.9 on Saturday January 27 and rose again to 7.2 on Sunday, January 28 (Tam Media).

The following week, it started on Friday, February 2 at 5.3 TVR and rose to 6.1 the next day and rose again to level at 6.6 TVR for the next two episodes.
