BBCâs international 24-hour news and information channel BBC World News is set to host the Spirit of Golf 2009 tournament that is scheduled to take place on January 24, 2009, at the Jaypee Green Grounds in Delhi.
BBC World News is hosting the event in association with the Tourism Ministry, which has been associated with the tournament since its inception. Participants will include corporate leaders and top bureaucrats, who would compete for prizes as well as for winning Spirit of Golf 2009. There will also be a Golf Clinic to initiate beginners to the basics of golfing.
Jonathan Howlett, Director of Advertising Sales, BBC Worldwide, said, âItâs wonderful to be returning to Delhi for the 2009 Spirit of Golf tournament, and itâs equally great to be continuing our long standing association with the Ministry of Tourism, as well as many returning sponsors. The tournament has become a highlight of our calendar, especially with the great facilities here in India.â

Suzlon, Asiaâs largest wind turbine manufacturer, is an associate sponsor for Spirit of Golf 2009, while prizes for the tournament have been sponsored by HP, RBS, Visit London, Thistle & Guoman, Virgin Atlantic, Sri Lanka Tourism and Volkswagen. The event is being managed by Digraj Sports.
