The start of this week saw the world waking up to the news that Sir Martin Sorrell has quit as CEO of WPP, the world's largest advertising agency that he founded 30 years ago. Roberto Quarta, chairman of WPP, took over as the executive chairman until the appointment of a new CEO.
Mark Read, CEO, Wunderman and WPP Digital, and Andrew Scott, WPP corporate development director and COO, Europe, have been appointed as joint chief operating officers of WPP.
We put the Spotlight on Cannes, which might see weak participation from India this year. TRAI reiterated its recommendations to the MIB that under the new licensing regime for DTH, licenses should be issued for a period of 20 years and be renewed by 10 years at a time. The Authority also recommended that a one-time entry fee of Rs 10 crore should be charged in the new DTH licensing regime.
