Top cop Kiran Bedi to host show on women’s issues on Meow 104.8 FM

Meow 104.8 FM is talking women’s empowerment through its latest programme ‘Top Cat’. India’s most celebrated woman police officer Dr Kiran Bedi is the show’s host and the women of Delhi can talk to her every Thursday at 8 pm on the radio station by Radio Today Broadcasting Ltd, which is a division of India Today Group.

‘Top Cat’ is Meow 104.8 FM’s endeavour to ensure Delhi’s women feel more secure and confident. The show aims to help women better address health, social or civic issues by empowering them with information. On this show, Dr Bedi seeks to reach out to women who are victims of various forms of abuse -- physical or mental -- by imparting her knowledge of law and social service.

The show leverages the anonymity of radio as a medium and the talk format of Meow 104.8 FM to help women openly air their concerns, grievances and fears, in the assurance that there is an expert to hear them out. The show has already helped Meow 104.8 FM create waves and provide yet another fresh platform for the women of Delhi to come together and share their perspectives.

On her new role as a radio host, Dr Kiran Bedi said, “Communication plays a critical role in society as it facilitates exchange of ideas and information, which in turn empowers. For me, policing and motherhood too have been communication and it is my respect for and belief in communication that brings me to Meow 104.8 FM.”

Anil Srivatsa, COO, Radio Today Broadcasting Ltd, said, “Meow 104.8 FM seeks to be every woman’s best friend. As part of this endeavour, we have launched ‘Top Cat’, a show with substance, to engage with the varied mindsets of women in need or distress. Being an inspirational social icon, Kiran Bedi was the obvious choice to host the show. With her on board, we are certain of the show’s success.”
