RAM Rambling: Radio Mirchi, Big FM, Friends FM favourites in Kolkata during evenings

Radio Mirchi, Big FM and Friends FM are comfortably placed as the three top FM players in Kolkata as per the RAM data for 21 weeks (week 22 to week 42) for the 6-10 pm slot, all people 12 years and above, all places of listening.

The 22-week trend shows Radio Mirchi managing to stay ahead of the curve despite some stiff competition from Big FM. Week 43 ended with Radio Mirchi receiving 22.1 per cent of the market share. The FM station was at its highest peak on week 40 with a market share of 24.6 per cent.

Friends FM continues to be placed third, with the initial few weeks seeing the FM station involved in a fight for the third slot with Red FM and Aamar FM. However, week 43 ended with Friends FM getting a 13.4 per cent share of the market, with the FM station at its highest peak on week 28 with a 14.7 per cent market share.

On the other hand, the fourth slot sees a clutter of FM stations – Aamar FM, Red FM, Fever FM, Radio One and Meow FM – with no clear player emerging.

The other cluster of FM stations in the Kolkata market includes Power FM, AIR FM1 Rainbow, AIR FM2 Gold, Akashavani, Vividh Bharati.
