MIB releases migration GOPA papers for Phase III online

The MIB has released important documents pertaining to the impending Phase III auctions on its website. These include the migration Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA), GOPA for new applicants and Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing license.

The availability of the documents can be taken as a sign that the MIB is now ready to hold the auctions. This means that a decision in the Home Ministry-Sun TV case has been reached or is close to being reached. Though nothing has been made public, there is still a stumbling block in case Red FM and Suryan FM are not granted security clearance since any court proceedings could potentially hold back the auctions.

A report in the Economic Times did suggest that Sun TV has been denied a security clearance. However, industry sources we spoke with said there is still no clarity on the matter yet. FM Arun Jaitley has yet to take the final decision, which could take a couple more days, they said.
