Tamil Nadu govt circumvents SC order; publishes commercial features with Jayalalitha's pictures

Recently all the front pages of newspapers were splashed with Amma’s work in last four years. Tamil Nadu Government highlighted her work involving all leading papers. Yesterday Tamil Nadu government came up with another innovative idea and got centre spread and one full page commercial feature in Economic Times and Business Standard.

The two page centre spread in Economic Times dated May 27 May spoke about the four years of AIADMK government. With Amma’s picture on the top left corner, the article celebrates Amma’s Canteen, Amma Cement, Amma Salt and other division such as power generation, education and infrastructure.

While on the other hand, Business Standard spoke about her achievement about investments. The headline says “With Jayalalithaa back at the helm, TN chasing a target of one lakh crore investments”. The article says, “The AIADMK government encouraging industries to set up shops in southern parts.”

AIADMK government has found a workaround to SC order of banning politicians’ images in govt ads by pubishing an article around Jayalalitha. Infact,  Tamil Nadu Government moved to SC asking to review the order because it contradicts the federal structure based on grounds of parity between the Centre and States.
