Rajasthan Patrika starts SMS service, announces Golden Voice contest

Rajasthan Patrika (RP), one of the largest media organisations in Rajasthan, has some interesting marketing initiatives up its sleeve. It has introduced a host of SMS services with the punchline 'fulltime masti' on 6969. At the same time, it is holding a Golden Voice contest to unearth local talent.

"With this value-added service, users can access games, ring tones, picture messages, astrology, sports, stock updates, etc., by typing the required service code and sending to 6969," said Ajoy Tunkalia, AGM-Business Promotion, Rajasthan Patrika. The service is available for subscribers of Airtel, Hutch, BSNL North Zone and BSNL South Zone, he added.

The Golden Voice event, exclusively for people in and around Rajasthan, aims to unearth singing talents from the smaller towns. The show will cater to the age group of 15 and above and will last for nearly four months. The preliminary rounds will be organised in all the 12 publication centres of Rajasthan Patrika -- Ajmer, Jodhpur, Pali, Banswara, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Kota, Alwar, Sikar, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar and Jaipur. The mega final will be held in Jaipur.

For enhanced consumer interactivity, people can vote for their favourite singers via SMS on 6969, starting from the quarter final rounds. Well-known playback singers from Bollywood will judge the finalists. Earlier, Kumar Sanu had released the logo of 'Golden Voice'. The winner will get an opportunity to make his/her own music album, which will be sold in the market. The event will be aired over 13 episodes on DD-14.

Said Tunkalia, "Rajasthan Patrika wants to bring forward the undiscovered talent of Rajasthan. Our events have always been well received and have also featured in the Limca Book of Records for their enormity. The footfalls in such events have been as high as 15 lakh. Another mega event organised by Rajasthan Patrika, the Education & Career Fair, is scheduled for May. We are positive that this initiative will also be well received."
