True Entertainment & Media, a company started a year back, is coming out with a Hindi weekly paper, ‘Metro Live’, this New Year. The 24-page, colour newspaper will be priced at Rs 5 and will be out on Fridays.
An online version of the paper, www.metrolive.in, will also be launched along with the print edition. The main news will be related to the latest updates from the fields of politics and the economy. Feature reports on lifestyle, entertainment, health, career, and so on will also be carried.
Dinesh Verma, Promoter of ‘Metro Live’, said, “The paper will target the Hindi belt region comprising Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh.”
Anil Attri has been roped in as Executive Editor of ‘Metro Live’. Before this, he had worked as Editorial In-charge with ‘Young Indian,’ a weekly magazine. He has also worked with Dainik Bhaskar and Haribhoomi.
Commenting on the paper’s availability, Attri said, “We won’t go to all cities, but only selected ones. We will go only where there is possibility to make our image strong and business too. With a circulation of 25,000 copies, the first issue of this weekly newspaper will be circulated in Delhi.” He further said that the number of copies would be increased as per demand and business.
For now, the circulation will be taken care of by Central News Agency. In the mean time, Attri said, they were in talks with two other distributors from Delhi to handle their circulation. They also have an in-house circulation team in place.
Talking about the marketing strategy of the paper, Attri said, “Content is the main criteria. Our success depends on the content.” He further said that they were also setting up a separate marketing department and had their own in-house advertising team.
Most of the income will come from local advertisements. The paper would depend on advertising revenue and not so much on subscriptions.
Another new person on board is Kumar Shailendra, who has joined as News Co-ordinator. Before Metro Live, he had worked with the All India Radio and Saubhagya Mithila television channel.
Going forward, ‘Metro Live’ plans to come out with an English edition as well.
