: Walt Disney India appoints Antoine Villeneuve as Sr VP & MD for television business

Changes in the Walt Disney Company India’s top management at present don’t just include a new MD after Rajat Jain decided to move on from the company, but recent developments have induced some changes in the structure as well. Walt Disney India has now appointed a head for its television business. Unlike the other units of the company -- like Internet, merchandising -- that had heads reporting to the MD of the company, the television side of the business hitherto had no overall head. All function heads were reporting directly to the MD.

The appointment of Antoine Villeneuve as Senior VP and MD for Walt Disney Television India changes this. He will oversee Disney, Toon Disney/Jetix and Hungama TV in India. Villeneuve will relocate to Mumbai and assume his role from June 1, 2007. In a dual structure, he would report to both Rich Ross, President, Disney Channel Worldwide, and to the MD for Walt Disney Company, India, which at present is Rajat Jain.

In the new structure, Nachiket Pantvaidya, Programming and Production Head; Tushar Shah, Marketing Head; and Aparna Bhosle, Programming and Production Head, Hungama TV, will report to Villeneuve.

The heads of the other businesses of Walt Disney Company in India are TN Prabhu for the Walt Disney Internet Group, Roshini Bakshi for Disney Consumer Products, which includes the group initiatives in publishing and other mediums, and PS Shyam who heads Walt Disney Studios. All these heads, now with Villeneuve added, report to the MD of Walt Disney Company.

On the appointment, Ross said, “Antoine brings a wealth of media experience and knowledge of the company to his new position, and will increase our strong television channel business in India, helping to marshal the many opportunities our channels and content offer to other businesses in The Walt Disney Company.”

For the past three years, Villeneuve has been VP and MD for Jetix, France, which is a part of Jetix, Europe, that is owned in majority by The Walt Disney Company. He was supervising all aspects of the channel and its online and consumer products division.

Villeneuve added, “I am honoured to be taking on this role. It is an exciting opportunity to be able to lead a team of highly experienced and dedicated television professionals in this fastest growing media market.”

Villeneuve’s position at Jetix France will be filled by Thierry Nicolas, the current CFO, and Dominique Ducass, the current Deputy Managing Director, of Jetix operations in France.
