UTV appoints Sameer Ganapathy as Distribution Head

Following the announcements in its top management, UTV has added one more name to its top brass. Sameer Ganapathy has come in as the Head of Distribution for UTV Broadcasting Ltd, which is a 100 per cent UTV subsidiary for the company’s broadcasting initiatives. Ganapathy will report to Shantonu Aditya, Executive Director, UTV Broadcasting Ltd.

Aditya said, “We are delighted to have Sameer join UTV. He brings almost a decade of experience in distribution of a broadcasting bouquet. He has seen the distribution space evolve and hence is a perfect fit for our forthcoming broadcast venture.”

Prior to this appointment, Ganapathy was associated with Sahara One Media & Entertainment Limited as Head-Distribution. Sameer started his distribution career as Regional Manager-Distribution at Discovery Communications India. He then moved to SET Discovery Pvt. Ltd as Assistant VP-Distribution, where he was responsible for the Western region.

UTV Broadcasting Ltd has already announced the launch of two TV channels in its bouquet — youth channel Bindass, and world cinema channel Olive TV. Also in the offering are channels in the variety, entertainment and specialty genre, which will be announced shortly.
