Ten Sports has appointed Sanjay Raina as Chief Operating Officer for International Business. Raina would be based in Dubai for this role. He comes from Astro Television, where he was Senior Vice President – Marketing, working in Malaysia.
As COO for International Business, Raina’s role would include the P&L (profit & loss) management for international markets with specific charge of driving international revenues through syndication, affiliate sales and ad sales amongst others.
Raina brings over 18 years of work experience in Consumer Durables, Entertainment, Direct to home Television (DTH), Non Fiction Television, Print, News & Entertainment Television and Media with stints in India, Malaysia, Indonesia.
His core focus includes knowledge and experience of business operations, profit centre management, product management, marketing and promotions, consumer insights, research and strategy, branding and identity, content management and planning, strategic planning, entertainment and broadcast operations.
Raina has been with the Astro Group since June 2006. In the first year, he handled the overall business and operational role of kids’ television Astro Ceria. In February 2007, he was given a new charge of overseeing the brand development and consumer insights portfolio for Astro group's local channels both in Indonesia and Malaysia. In July 2009, he was shifted to Malaysia with an enhanced role as the head of customer marketing for the entire customer marketing portfolio for Astro’s Pay TV operations.
Prior to Astro, Raina has worked with companies such as Times Global Broadcasting Network, Hindustan Times, Discovery Communications, Columbia Tristar and Philips India.
