Rediffusion Y&R appoints Rohit Misra as President

The position left vacant by Mahesh Chauhan’s elevation as Group CEO has finally been filled. Rediffusion – Y&R has appointed Rohit Misra as President. His responsibilities will include leading the creative agency nationally in India as well as its Sri Lankan operations. He will be based out of Mumbai.

The elevation of Mahesh Chauhan to Group CEO had left the position of agency head vacant, and Misra, who is currently CEO for the Sri Lanka operations for Rediffusion Y&R is a perfect fit. As CEO of Rediffusion Y&R, Sri Lanka, Misra had successfully revamped and recharged the agency there. He also led it to partner the hugely acclaimed launch of Airtel in the Sri Lankan market.

Speaking on the appointment, Mahesh Chauhan, Group CEO, Rediffusion Y&R, said, “Rediffusion Y&R Group today is in a very special place. The past couple of years have truly been a turning point. In the organisation’s new matrix structure, we have been on the lookout for someone dynamic to take our endeavours forward at the creative agency and help it grow bigger and better than ever. In Rohit, we now have a fantastic leader, who is a true champion of the beliefs and values of Rediffusion. I wish him great success in his new role.”

On his new role, Misra said, “I’m really looking forward to this new assignment. We have some fantastic talent across the agency and a wonderful roster of clients. It’s challenging times like now that provide real opportunities to demonstrate the power of what we do: help our clients build their businesses with leading edge thinking and work that in turn earns their respect. That is going to be our focus.”

Misra has extensive experience in leading agencies, having worked with Euro RSCG Worldwide as Regional Vice President – Middle East. Prior to the Middle East, Misra was a founding member, shareholder and member of the Management Committee of Euro RSCG when the group started up in India in 1996. He had set up and managed the Delhi office of the company.

Misra began his career in India in 1989 with Ogilvy & Mather Direct working on Direct Marketing Strategy and implementation for clients like American Express, Xerox, British Airways and ITC Hotels.
