Raj Narain parts ways with Brand Portrait; floats his own outfit Optima Marketing Solutions

Raj Narain, one of the two co-founders of Brand Portrait, has parted ways with the agency in order to start his own outfit, called Optima Marketing Solutions. Venu Gopal Nair is the other co-founder of Brand Portrait. Narain is the Managing Director of Optima Marketing Solutions.

Optima Marketing Solutions is a full service marketing solutions agency headquartered in Chennai with offices in Mumbai and the US. The agency plans to set up offices in Delhi and Bangalore in the next 3-6 months.

A large part of Brand Portrait’s team has also moved out with Narain and joined his new agency. Meanwhile, Optima has also attracted talent from some big agencies.

On being asked why he had decided move out of Brand Portrait, Narain candidly admitted that there was an issue of meeting of minds. “I had a vision of building an organisation which was not merely into advertising, but offered end-to-end marketing solutions,” he added.

He further said, “This is a major milestone for me and the team that has come together as we embark on building a true blue result-driven and customer-centric advertising and marketing consulting firm. Our dream is to bring together a team that would work wonders for brands and help grow their business and value by providing results driven solutions. Agencies should rethink their functioning and offer clients results as a core performance objective. The need for reframing the functioning of the advertising business encouraged us to launch Optima.”

Optima has already signed on 16 clients in the first 30 days of its operations. Some of the clients have reportedly come from Brand Portrait, while the agency has also acquired eight new clients in the last one month.

The agency’ portfolio of clients include V-Tel Calling cards, Fleetrac, Dhanus Corporate, Verizon, Nippo Batteries, Hallmark Infrastructure, Saksoft, TVSE – POS division, TVS Infotech, X One – all out of Chennai. In the US, the company handles MPINGI, a digital phone service, HSBC Bank, and DirecTV, among others.

The agency has also acquired the business of a new brand from Gold Winner, besides a soon-to-be-launched garment brand.
