Radio City appoints Vikas Varma as National Head of Programming

Radio City has made another top level appointment with Vikas Varma joining as its National Head of Programming. Varma was formerly with UTV as COO.

Varma will be leading the National Creative team and will be based in Mumbai. He will look after all national programming initiatives besides working on the programme mix for Radio City’s upcoming stations. The focus of his assignment will be to further build on the innovative never-done-before aspects of programming, which the brand Radio City wants to justifiably stand for.

Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City, said, “I am extremely happy to have Vikas on board with us. It is exciting times for Radio City and we are launching a slew of new initiatives. Radio City has set numerous benchmarks for the industry through its programming innovations like Lingo-Lila, Babbar Sher, Love Guru, Musical-e-Azam (where we currently have 21 of the best Bollywood singers performing live and unplugged). Vikas will be leading a set of highly charged creative people at Radio City and play an active role in taking it to the next league.”

Varma, who has 17 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, has directed a number of ad films and promos, conceptualised and created songs and jingles for some of the leading broadcasters. He has been instrumental in the launch of a number of TV serials and shows for Sony, Star Plus, Hungama, NGC and BBC amongst others.
