Pratik Basu joins BAG Films & Media Ltd as Executive Director

Pratik Basu, the former CEO of Buena Vista Television India, has joined BAG Films & Media Ltd as Executive Director, and would be a corporate resource working closely with the Managing Director and the core group. Basu has over three decades of experience in marketing, advertising and media. Basu is also Executive Director with INX Executive Search Services, the HR company of Indrani Mukerjea, wife of Peter Mukerjea.

Basu will continue to be on the Board of Directors of INX HR while simultaneously carrying on his responsibilities at BAG. Said Basu, “I am not on the payroll of BAG. In addition to being Executive Director to BAG’s television venture, I will continue independent consultancy in non-conflict areas, including being Executive Director in INX Executive Search Services.”

He added, “However, it’s exciting to be associated with BAG’s television network project because, simply put, it’s backed by a unique idea for content aggregation, with enough experience and resources -- both talent and financial -- to realise the full potential of that idea. I see BAG emerging as a significant player in the broadcast business in the next 18 to 24 months.”

Commented Anurradha Prasad, MD, BAG Films & Media, “We are sure Pratik will be able to create a likeable, durable and consistent television brand by developing what we believe are the right ideas for the right reasons.”

Basu started his career in sales with Tata Group, and moved to consumer product marketing with The Gramophone Company of India as its National Marketing Manager. He then shifted to advertising with HTA and Lintas. He next moved to the media entertainment business as Chief Executive Officer of Buena Vista Television India, a JV of the Walt Disney Company, and held that position for 10 years. After leaving Buena Vista Television India, he worked as an independent consultant and creative writer, and had the opportunity to work for DQ Entertainment in the capacity of advisor and consultant.

Meanwhile, Amit Ray has also joined BAG Films as Chief Strategy Officer, as reported earlier by exchange4media. He too would be associated as a corporate resource working closely with the Managing Director and the core group. His first task would be to lead the launch of the broadcast network, starting with two TV channels.
