Prakash Iyer joins Infomedia India as MD

Prakash Iyer has quit Pepsi and joined as Managing Director of Infomedia India (earlier known as Tata Infomedia), the yellow pages and special interest publication company that was acquired by ICICI Venture Fund Management Company in a management buyout in 2003. He takes over from Hoshang Billimoria, who had indicated his desire to step down sometime back to pursue other interests.

Iyer’s departure from Pepsi comes in the wake of the company’s decision to move him to China as Regional Vice-President. He has almost 20 years of experience in marketing and brand creation. His experience includes a tenure at Hindustan Levers, followed by a stint in the Middle East.

Speaking on his appointment, Renuka Ramnath, Managing Director, ICICI Venture, said, “He has the right blend of marketing strength and people orientation. He has successfully built teams and created businesses in extremely competitive environments. The Board is confident that he will not only be able to give the current business the required thrust but will also be able to capitalise new synergistic opportunities such as BPO.”
