Pradeep Guha elected President of International Advertising Association – India Chapter

Pradeep Guha, CEO, Zee Telefilms Ltd was elected President of the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) for the year 2006-07 at its recently concluded Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai.

The new Managing Committee has several new faces, including: Raj Nayak, Vice-president; M G Parmeshwaran, Honorary Secretary; Jaideep R Gandhi, Honorary Treasurer; Goutam Rakshit, Tanya Goyal and Hormusji Cama (members); Ramesh Narayan, co-opted member; Pheroza Bilimoria, Special Invitee; Mukul Upadhyaya, special invitee; and Sam Balsara, immediate Past President.

Spread over 93 countries and with over 6,000 members worldwide, IAA champions advertising as a force for growth in all free market societies. Advertising revenues ensure an independent, pluralistic, affordable media with competing channels of information for consumers, which are the foundation of democracy itself.

The IAA is uniquely positioned to recognise emerging cross-border trends before they become obvious, and provide marketing communications professionals with an international, multi-industry forum for the global exchange of knowledge, best practices, professional development, experience and ideas.

The India Chapter was initiated over 20 years ago with a view to foster a healthy environment for the growth of globalisation in the communications industry. The India Chapter currently has a membership of around 50 members. Membership is by invitation only.

Commenting on his election, Guha said, “This is not the first time that I am associated with IAA, but the responsibility definitely seems like one of the most interesting opportunities to positively influence the rapidly growing Indian advertising industry and hopefully build synergies with the help of our international counterparts.”

Balsara will continue to serve on the Committee as immediate Past President.
