MAX appoints Sanjay Ramakrishnan of WorldSpace as Head of Marketing

MAX is assuring its share of news as the year comes to a close. The channel has just appointed Sanjay Ramakrishnan as Vice-president, Marketing and Communications. Ramakrishnan moves from WorldSpace and will join MAX on January 2, 2006. He will report to Albert Almeida, EVP and Business Head of the channel.

Confirming the development, Almeida said, “It’s exciting times ahead for MAX with loads of action on the movie and cricket front, and Sanjay’s outstanding abilities, which he has successfully established over the years, will be a key asset to MAX. Sanjay has experience and knowledge in consumer marketing, sales and distribution, business development and public relations having worked across a diverse set of media businesses. He is well armed to bring all these skills to bear in this challenging and ever changing environment.”

On his part, Ramakrishnan is excited. “MAX is a great brand to be associated with. It has built a unique position for itself thanks to its innovative and path-breaking programming and marketing initiatives across two of the biggest platforms – movies and cricket. I am looking forward to this new role and the task of building and strengthening the brand’s equity, appeal and reach,” he said.

Prior to this, Ramakrishnan has worked with media firms like Lycos Asia Internet Pvt Ltd and The Times of India Group. As Head-Marketing at WorldSpace India, he oversaw its successful marketing initiatives over the last one year. He has also worked with Spice Telecom, Satyam Infoway and SmithKline Beecham.
