Kaustav Das takes over as Managing Director of Orchard Advertising

Kaustav Das has been appointed as Managing Director of Orchard Advertising with immediate effect. He will take over this responsibility from Nitish Mukherjee who recently moved to Leo Burnett as Managing Director. In his new role, Das will be responsible for all the three offices of Orchard at Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai and its recently established presence in Delhi. Prior to this appointment, Das was Vice President- South, TBWA\India.

Its fresh approach has attracted an impressive portfolio of independent-minded clients to entrust their businesses to Orchard. Kaustav Das is a natural fit into this culture,” said Arvind Sharma, Chairman of India Subcontinent for Leo Burnett. As is known, Orchard Advertising is the sister concern of Leo Burnett.

Orchard’s portfolio of clients includes Air Deccan, CavinKare, Fiat, Wipro, Godrej Consumer Care, Subhiksha, South African Breweries, Tata Gold Plus, Essilor and Lotte. The agency’s work has been awarded at most of the major international and national award shows, including a Cannes Bronze.

With him as my creative partner, we will work towards making Orchard the hottest new-generation creative agency in the country -- great ads being only a part of Orchard’s creative output. An engineer and an MBA by academic training, Thomas is a rare creative leader who understands the multiple roles creativity plays in driving clients’ businesses,” said Das.

Das has a 15-year experience in advertising, and has worked with clients like Apple, Hindustan Lever (now HUL), Henkel, Parry’s, HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, United Breweries, TTK and Titan in his previous assignments. Apart from a string of successful client service and office head stints, Das was also Head of Account Planning at Lowe Bangalore. He had also worked on the Dalda Activ account as Brand Manager.

Das started his career with Saatchi & Saatchi, and moved to O&M, followed by Lowe. He was a Founder Member of Lowe’s Strategic Planning Cell and Brand Planning Director of Lowe’s Bangalore office. After a short stint at Mudra and RK Swamy BBDO, and two years as Head of Euro RSCG Chennai, he took over as Vice President-South of TBWA\India in May 2005.
