ICICI Pru's Abhishek Bhatia to join Prudential Malaysia

Abhishek Bhatia, who is currently head of marketing at ICICI Prudential, is moving to Prudential Malaysia as director, marketing. He has put in his papers and will move to Malaysia in January, 2005.

Talking about his new assignment, Bhatia says, “Challenges will be more in this new assignment as the Indian insurance market is quite different from that of Malaysia. While in India it is still at a nascent stage, the insurance industry in Malaysia is quite mature.” With this new assignment, 29-year-old Bhatia will probably be the youngest director in the Prudential fold.

Disclosing the details of this new assignment, Bhatia says, “Prudential, which happens to be the partner in the Indian joint venture company ICICI Prudential, was quite influenced with the kind of work we were doing in India.” For the last four years, Bhatia has played a key role as the custodian of the ICICI Prudential brand. In April 2004, he was elevated to the position of head of marketing and has been the overall in-charge of the brand, communications and direct marketing at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance since then.

Talking about his experience with ICICI Prudential, he says, “It's every marketer's dream to work on a brand from scratch. One can actually work on the business, marketing and advertising plan that would be followed in the years to come. At ICICI Prudentials, I not only got the opportunity to work on the corporate brand but even on sub-brands such as SmartKids and Retirement Solutions.”

Bhatia began his career in 1998 with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare in sales and marketing and worked on the brand Boost for almost two years. He was part of the team that worked on the 360 degree communication with Sachin Tendulkar, its brand ambassador. Bhatia is an alumnus of IIM Kolkata and Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi.
