Gitanjali Murari appointed Head of Content for Turner-Alva JV Real Global Broadcasting

Gitanjali Murari has joined Real Global Broadcasting, a Turner-Alva Brothers joint venture, as Head of Content for its soon to-be-launched Hindi general entertainment channel. In the new role, Murari would be responsible for developing and producing content for the channel through third party partners and associates. Murari’s last stint was as Head of Programming for Sony PIX, where she was also involved with the brand’s marketing and advertising sales functions.

Real Global Broadcasting, a 50:50 broadcasting joint venture between with Turner International and Alva Brothers, was set up in December 2007. The company is slated to launch a general entertainment channel in Hindi and other Indian languages, targeted at the urban Indian audience.

Announcing Murari’s appointment, Sunil Lulla, Director, Real Global Broadcasting, said, “Gitanjali is a very successful creative leader. She will lead the designing and execution of programming for contemporary neo Indian audiences in her new role. Her skills and expertise will invite the best of talent to be associated with the channel and the company.”

Murari said, “I am very excited to lead the programming of a new age general entertainment channel in India. There are many opportunities and new ways to entertain audiences and we look forward to establishing creative leadership in the market place.”

She comes to Real Global Broadcasting with 17 years of rich experience across various functions in the television content and broadcasting industry. Murari has held several positions with reputed media brands, including SET India as Creative Director overseeing hit shows like ‘Yeh Meri Life Hai’, ‘Hum Do Hain Na’; Zee Trendz, Zee MGM and Zee English as Programming Head; and Fremantle as Country Head for India. In addition, Murari has worked as an independent creative consultant, a TV show producer and a documentary producer.
