Alka Saxena quits MH1 news channel as CEO and Editor-in-Chief

Alka Saxena, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, MH1, has put in her papers. Following this development, Pradeep Gangal, MH1 Group CEO, has taken over the additional responsibility of Saxena’s role.

Confirming the news, Saxena said, “Yes, I had resigned as the CEO and Editor-in-Chief at MH1 on June 30, but my resignation was accepted on July 2. At the moment I cannot disclose my next destination.”

She had joined MH1 news channel on May 25 after quitting from Janmat, where she was the anchor of the flagship show ‘Aap Ka Mat’.

Saxena began her journalistic career with Ravivar, an Ananda Bazaar Patrika group publication, in the mid-80s. She was one of the core founder members of Aaj Tak in 1995. She moved to Zee News in 2001 and soon became the face of the channel.

Gangal said, “We are true to our viewers and not inclined to any particular thought process nor are we inclined towards any political party. I look forward to taking the MH1 group forward and take upon the additional responsibilities of Editor-in-Chief and CEO of MH1 News.”

Gangal has 28 years’ experience in different industries, including consumer durables, media and FMCG. He had worked with Super Cassette Industries for nearly 10 years in various capacities, including Vice-President. Gangal has been associated with the MH1 Group since 2005 as CEO.

He had also worked with Videocon International and Indian Express Newspapers. He was Chief Manager with Indian Express, where he worked for five and a half years. He had also worked with the NEPC Group as President Corporate for three years.
