Alka Saxena joins MH One news channel as CEO and Editor-in-Chief

Acclaimed journalist and TV anchor Alka Saxena has joined MH One news channel as CEO and Editor-in-Chief, with effect from May 25. Prior to this appointment, she was associated with Janmat. Apart from her role as CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Saxena is also the channel’s spokesperson, and is directly reporting to Bathla.

Announcing the appointment, Mahinder Bathla, CMD, MH One Group, said, “We are very happy to welcome Alka Saxena to head our news channel. Her wealth of experience of over 22 years in both print and television, and her being among the foremost of news anchors of the country, will stand the company in good stead. For us at MH One, Saxena’s commitment and credibility as a media person were the primary reasons for inviting her to lead the channel as these principles shall remain the guiding mission of our enterprise.”

The MH One Group already has MH One Music and Shraddha on air. Pradeep Gangal, Group CEO, MH One, said, “She played a crucial role in planning and launching the news channel that leads the market today, and turned the fortunes of another news channel to be on the leader board with her outstanding managerial abilities. Being a news anchor brand with exceptional talent and screen presence only adds to her value. We were sure she was the perfect choice among many to lead our ambitious venture.”

Reacting to her new assignment, Saxena said, “There are many news channels in the market and more due. The Indian television news industry is on the threshhold of a vibrant and turbulent phase. The challenge is to surf this powerful wave with our head held high and I am happy to take up the challenge.”

Saxena began her journalistic career with Ravivar-Ananda Bazaar Patrika in 1985. She was one of the core founding members of Aaj Tak in 1995. She then moved to Zee News in 2001 where she was Editor and Head of Programming, before joining Janmat.
