Abeer Chakravarty to head Bates Group in Kolkata as Senior VP

Abeer Chakravarty, a veteran in the Kolkata advertising industry, will be the new head of Bates Group in Kolkata with the position of Senior Vice-President. He replaces Ashish Palchoudhury, who as reported in exchange4media.com earlier, quit recently after two years at the helm of the agency’s Kolkata office that handles ABP Group, ITC, Rupa & Co., Lafarge, Coca-Cola, Apeejay Group among others.

Chakravarty had been consulting on several integrated communication projects for Bates India and 141 Worldwide nationally. He has over 25 year’s experience in advertising and database marketing, besides retail sales and distribution and market research. He has held senior management positions in JWT and Response handling brands such as Tata Steel, HMV, Brooke Bond and Dabur Chyawanprash.

On Chakravarty’s appointment, Subhash Kamath, CEO, Bates India, said, “Abeer brings a truly unique capability which combines years of excellence in both CRM and advertising that will play a vital role in offering our clients complete solutions in customer contact.”

When contacted Chakravarty said, “I am really delighted to be a part of Bates and 141 Worldwide. Customers need complete solutions. What is offered to them is not truly integrated because people behind integration have expertise skewed towards advertising, whereas we need equal expertise or equal experience in both advertising and CRM.”

Having pioneered the introduction of advanced Database Marketing practices in India in collaboration with US guru Dick Shaver, Chakravarty as head of Enterprise Nexus Direct enabled Proctor &Gamble, Lafarge, Indian Airlines, Taj Group of Hotels and Philips among others to use advanced Database Marketing /CRM to identify, profile, develop and retain customers. His project for Indian Airlines is archived at Direct Marketing Association, USA.
