Raj TV ropes in Vidyadhar Khatavkar to head the network as Group COO

Vidyadhar Khatavkar has joined Raj TV Network as Group COO after a successful run of about two years as Senior Vice President, Media & Strategy at Cellcast Interactive India.

He will be reporting to Raajhendhran M, MD & Chairman, Raj TV Network, and will be based out of Mumbai and Chennai.

Khatavkar has been a professional in the Indian television industry with more than 20 years of experience in a leadership role. His tenure at Cellcast Interactive began in June 2009, where he was overlooking media strategy, acquisition, consumer research, airtime sales and sponsorships.

Prior to this, Khatvakar was part of the Zee Network, where he was Senior Vice-President – Sales since April 2003 and was instrumental in the launch of Zee’s Alpha belt of regional channels as well as Zee Marathi, Zee Gujarati and later Zee Sports. In May 2006, he departed from the Zee umbrella to join B4U, where he spent two years.

Currently, the Raj TV Network has a broad strategy line-up with Raj TV (Tamil GEC), Raj Digital Plus (Tamil movies), Raj News and Raj Muzix, and a strong presence in Tamil Nadu.

In a conversation with exchange4media, Khatvakar shared the Network’s future plans and said, “Raj TV is a prominent network in the South, but has not been aggressive so far. The regional bouquet of four languages includes Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, but as we know, these audiences have a worldwide presence. With networks expanding their international presence, Raj TV now holds a vision to grow beyond Tamil markets to a more global platform and later expand to all affiliated spheres of broadcast such as Tamil movies, music, etc.”
