A press release issued by MediaCom stated that Debraj Tripathy had been appointed as Chief Operating Officer for India. He will be responsible for leading development across MediaCom’s offices in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. He takes charge from January 3, 2011 and will be based in New Delhi.
“Debraj is brilliant, committed and a great team-player. His experience in media, especially mobile, digital and analytics, will be especially useful in scaling MediaCom’s offerings in this area. We are looking forward to having him on the team to take MediaCom to the next level,” said Divya Gururaj, Managing Director for MediaCom India.
On joining MediaCom, Tripathy said, “I am delighted to be part of the MediaCom family. MediaCom is one of the fastest growing media agencies both in India as well as in APAC and it I am excited with the challenge of keeping the growth momentum going.”
An electronics engineer and alumni of IIM Calcutta, Tripathy has extensive media experience having previously worked with Ogilvy, MindShare Fulcrum and as General Manager of Maxus Delhi. During this time, he has managed clients like Unilever, IBM, Nokia, Perfetti, Hero Honda, Dabur, Seagram, and Asian Paints, among others. In his last role, Tripathy was heading the Mobile Marketing SBU at OnMobile, India’s largest VAS company.
In line with MediaCom’s global growth strategy, Tripathy’s brief will be to work with the network to ensure clients in India benefit from gold standard products, tools and services, using best practice from other markets to further strengthen the agency's performance.
Additionally, as part of MediaCom’s People First programme, he will continue to grow the company’s talent pool, encouraging a nurturing environment where MediaCom plays an active role in identifying and employing the most talented and motivated staff in the industry.
