Changes at BCCL: Bhaskar Das made Prez; Arunava Das Sharma appointed as Exec Prez

Bennett, Coleman and Company Ltd (BCCL) has announced key changes in the top management of its revenue division. BCCL has elevated Dr Bhaskar Das to be the President of the company. Until now, he was Executive President.

In another significant development, Arunava Das Sharma has been roped in as Executive President. Prior to this, he was with Whirlpool US. Arunava would be reporting to Dr Das.

BCCL officials did not offer any comments on the development – a mail sent to Dr Das, who is in Macau with the team for an annual conference, was not replied to till the time of filing the report.

Sources have confirmed that the announcement was made in the BCCL conference on April 4, 2011.

The BCCL revenue function, which handles sales of leading publications such as The Times of India, The Economic Times, the various regional publications such as Navbharat Times and Maharashtra Times, is in the vicinity of Rs 5,000 crore according to industry estimates. This function is headed and controlled by Dr Bhaskar Das in his role as EP and now President of BCCL.
