Rupak Agarwal quits HT, joins Bharti Cellular as VP, Kolkata
Rupak Agarwal has joined Bharti Cellular as Vice-president, Kolkata Circle. He quit Hindustan Times last week after a 51-month stint as its General Manager, Strategic Marketing.
Rupak Agarwal has joined as Vice-president of Bharti Cellular, Kolkata Circle. He quit Hindustan Times, Delhi, last week after a 51-month stint as General Manager, Strategic Marketing. Agarwal will be reporting to Bharti’s CEO, Eastern Region, Deepak Gulati.
On being contacted by exchange4media, Agarwal said, “Telecom is one industry that is growing by leaps and bounds and it would be quite exciting to be a part of it.”
Prior to HT, Agarwal was associated with the Bharti group. Is it a homecoming? “Yes, it is a sort of homecoming as I was associated with the Bharti Group in early 1999 to mid-2000.”
An electronics engineer and an aluminus of IIM-Bangalore, Agarwal started his career with Tech Pacific before moving to BPL India for five years.
While at HT, Agarwal negotiated alliances with the Deccan Chronicle in Hyderabad, Deccan Herald in Bangalore, Mid-Day Group and Indian Express in the western region for appointments advertising and later extended the concept to display advertising by tying up with Business Standard.
