Mumbai to host second edition of Outdoor Advertising Convention in June 2006

The Outdoor Advertising Convention (OAC), the annual convention and awards forum for the outdoor advertising community in India, has been scheduled for June 9 and 10, 2006, in Mumbai.

The second edition of OAC will follow the same format as the first – two days of interactive presentation sessions and panel discussions will be followed by the Outdoor Advertising Awards (OAA) ceremony.

Vasant Jante, Project Head, OAC, and CEO, VJ Media Works, said, “OAC 2005 elicited an extremely positive response from all constituents of the outdoor advertising industry, both in terms of convention delegates as well as award entries. This, I believe, is an emphatic indicator of the ‘reminder’ medium having come into its own and the potential for its continued growth given the right impetus. With OAC 2006, the challenge is to bring together the best ideas and experiences from the Indian and international markets that will help the medium realise its potential.”

The scope for the Awards had been enhanced to include more categories this year, said an OAC release. Last year, there were a total of 285 entries in 14 categories. Ten silvers, 13 merit certificates and five golds were awarded. While four of the golds went to rmg david (now David), one went to Mudra.

HP Scitex is the title sponsor for the event this year. Said Pankaj Goswami, Regional Sales Manager (India, Bangladesh and Nepal), HP Scitex, “OAC 2005 was indeed a memorable stepping stone for the Indian outdoor industry. It was the first time an attempt was made to bring together all the stakeholders of this industry. We were proud to be associated as a co-sponsor and were looking forward to 2006. We believe, the second edition of OAC will be a major milestone in the Indian OOH industry and we are proud to be the title sponsor for OAC 2006.”

Thoughtshows and Events, the on-the-ground events division of VJ Media Works that also organises the annual POP Asia show, is organising OAC 2006. The company owns three publishing brands – Point-of-Purchase, Outdoor Advertising and VM&RD (Visual Merchandising & Retail Design).
