BARC Wk 10: Hindi news genre witnessed 30 per cent growth during NE poll results

TV remains the most popular platform for people to stay updated with news and events.

According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data, English news genre grew by 2.76 per cent whereas Hindi news genre saw a 30 per cent growth in North East Assembly elections results of 2018.

On March 3, the results for the North East Assembly, which includes Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura Assembly, were out. The election results helped news channels to get more audience at this time and Hindi news channels garnered even more eyeballs.

In Week 10 BARC ratings, at the time of North East Assembly elections results of 2018 (Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura,) English news saw 841 million impressions against 304 million impressions in the previous four weeks.

On the other hand, Hindi news genre garnered 13141 million impressions in Week 10 against 100308 million impressions for previous four weeks.
