DOOH firm WooHoo Screens displays 'Namaste Karona' campaign to spread awareness
The campaign urges people to wash their hands and avoid physical contact due to the outbreak of COVID-19
With the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus in the country, players in the outdoor segment are making an effort to inform passers-by on measures to be taken to stay safe. A surat-based player, WooHoo is a new entrant added to the list. ‘Namaste Karona’, a campaign started by the company across Surat to spread the word and urging people to wash their hands and avoid physical contact.
More than 200 digital screens are showing safety and awareness information against Coronavirus. Monik Madhwani, Co-founder of WooHoo Screens shared, “Before the Gujarat government implemented the order, we had already put up digital screens mentioning the precautions to be taken. We are currently running the campaign in multiplexes, malls, restaurants; we have covered most of the places with digital screens. We wanted to spread the word to avoid handshakes as it is spreading the disease rapidly, whereas 'namaste' which is also part of our culture and, of course, a great way to greet people, conveys respect and also maintains a safe distance.”
He further added, “Going forward, we plan to display more positive messages on the screens to uplift the morale of people. Our intention is not to incite fear amongst the people.”
The company has put on hold the new campaigns and the on-going campaigns as well. Monik is of the opinion that once this virus is under control, companies will bounce back.
“For the Namaste Karona campaign, we have allotted 10-second slots on each screen and the campaign is slated to run until March 31.”
