Outdoor Today, India's only magazine on outdoor advertising, has announced the launch of an annual convention exclusively for the Outdoor Advertising community in the country. The two-day event, which is to be held in Mumbai on June 10 and 11, would bring together experts from the industry in India and abroad. The event will culminate in an award ceremony.
On the idea behind coming up with the convention, Vasant Jante, Publisher, Outdoor Today, said, "Outdoor Advertising is one of the oldest mediums which is growing at a rate of 10 per cent every year. However, the frustrating part of this industry is that it is extremely disorganised and does not have any set standards. It needs to be benchmarked. A convention such as this will do the needful. This convention will also serve as a platform for the advertising fraternity throughout the world to share their views and ideas on outdoor advertising."
Supported by the recently constituted Indian Outdoor Advertising Agencies Association, OAC 2005 will comprise a series of interactive seminars addressed by experts from India and abroad and will address issues pertaining to the industry including research, regulation, innovation, technology and creativity.
Said Rathnakar Rai, Managing Director, Primetime-IP Media Services and spokesperson for the IOAAA, "There are many benefits that can accrue to the industry with an event like OAC 2005. At a primary level, the industry takes a high-ground position. More significantly, when the industry comes there can be knowledge enhancement and increased camaraderie among the constituents and stakeholders that can lead to dialoguing for industry improvements."
The delegates for the event would comprise all interest groups in the industry including media planning and buying agencies, advertising agencies, outdoor specialists, outdoor concessionaires, regulatory authorities, research agencies. Apart from that authorities responsible for developing outdoor media have also been invited.
The awards ceremony, the first of its kind lined up as the concluding part of the event, would recognise exceptional creative executions on the outdoor medium. Said Jante, "The Awards would honour creative efforts by product/service category. Recognising the creative excellence in outdoor advertising will be the primary focus of this awards show. Challenging the outdoor advertising fraternity to create better outdoor ads will be the secondary focus."
