Siti cable to hold Siti Mahotsav in Delhi

To promote social and cultural activities and to encourage local talent, Siti cable has planned to host Siti Mahotsav in the Capital. The Mahotsav, a week-long annual cultural extravaganza, is all set to hit Delhi following its success in Varanasi and Kanpur.

"The first Siti Mahotsav was organised in Varanasi in 1996. Backed by the huge success and popularity in Varanasi and Kanpur, we will have Siti Mahotsav in Delhi from this year. We firmly believe that the event will mirror the Capital's rich cultural heritage. It will provide a platform to the local talents and wholesome entertainment to the city people," said Jawahar Goel, Additional Vice Chairman, Essel Group.

Apart from being an entertainment platform, the event will encourage and promote the young and upcoming talent of the city. It is packaged with the programmes as per the national standards, while retaining the city centric flavours.

Starting from, April 5 at Talkatora ground, the event will carry the flavours of bhajan, pop, ghazal and folk, and classical music. It will witness celebrity performers like Anuradha Paudwal, Jagjit Singh, Shaan, Vinod Rathod and Shreya Ghoshal. Selection of the local talents will be done through an audition test scheduled on 29th and 30th January 2005. The event will be shown live throughout the country exclusively on Siti Channel.
