Puthiya Thalaimurai stresses on 4 Cs of performance

Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai celebrated its first anniversary on August 24, 2012 in Chennai. On the eve of the first anniversary celebrations, the channel launched its citizen journalism initiative called ‘Neyyar Nirubar’ (I Reporter), wherein viewers get the opportunity to report on the true state of affairs, shoot the videos and send them to the channel. The channel then verifies the credibility of the news reported before airing it in different news slots.

Puthiya Thalaimurai emerged as the No. 1 news channel in Tamil Nadu within 60 days of its launch. Commenting on completing a year, Shyam Kumar, Director, Operations, Puthiya Thalaimurai, recalled Walt Disney’s exhortation that anyone can achieve their dream provided they have the four Cs - Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Consistency. “The fulfilment of the dream has become a reality only because our President, Mr Sathyanarayanan has all the four Cs,” Shyam said, continuing on a lighter note, “This has led us to the 5th & the 6th Cs - Celebration and a Cake.”

The channel aired a slew of programmes as part of the anniversary specials under the title ‘Mudhal Aandil, Mudhal Idatthil’. These included: Journey of Puthiya Thalamurai, fun filled bloopers, best of Puthiya Thalaimurai programmes, special debate on Tamil journalism with N Ram, Baghwan Singh, Gnani, Kumaresan, and Uma Vangal.

Shankar B, CEO, Fourth Dimension, added here, “Puthiya Thalaimurai is very close to our heart and I am extremely happy to be part of the No. 1 news channel in Tamil Nadu. When Fourth Dimension was launched, Puthiya Thalaimurai was the first channel to come into our bouquet. It was only after that, that a lot of other people like UFX joined us.”
